Why won't my iPhone photos open? +
iPhones save photos as HEIC, which Windows, many websites and older apps can't open. Converting them to JPG fixes that. To have your iPhone save JPGs from now on, go to Settings > Camera > Formats and choose Most Compatible.
Will I lose quality? +
At High quality the difference is invisible. Choose Maximum for the best possible JPG, or PNG for a lossless copy.
What happens to transparent backgrounds? +
JPG can't be transparent, so they become white. Choose PNG to keep transparency.
Is the location removed? +
Yes. The converted copy holds only the picture: no GPS location, camera details or dates. Photos are turned the right way up first.
Can I convert Live Photos? +
The still photo converts like any other. The moving part of a Live Photo is a separate video file.
