Video Trimmer FAQ
Is this video trimmer free? +
Yes. Trim as many videos as you like for free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no file size limit of ours.
Is my video uploaded? +
No. Your video is cut right here in your browser and never leaves your device. That's why it's fast and private, even for large files.
Does trimming lose quality? +
No. By default the trimmer copies the original video and audio without re-encoding them, so the clip looks and sounds exactly like the original. The cut snaps to the nearest key frame, which can add up to a second or two at the start. Turn on "Frame-exact cut" to cut on the exact frame; that re-encodes the clip and is slower.
Which formats can I trim? +
MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV videos, and MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG and FLAC audio. The trimmed file keeps the same format.
How long can the video be? +
Any length your device can handle. Files of a few GB work on a computer; phones may run out of memory on very large files.
Can I trim a YouTube video? +
Not directly: the trimmer works on files on your device. To get the words from a YouTube video, use the free YouTube Transcript tool.
How do I turn the clip into text? +
Open Audio & Video to Text and upload the trimmed file. Free transcripts are up to 15 minutes, or 60 minutes when you sign in, so trimming a long recording down is a good way to transcribe just the part you need.
